About 414 (Epping & North Weald) Sqn

Many years have passed since the Royal Air Force has had a presence in Essex. These days, the only "light blue suits" that you are likely to see in our county belong to members of the Air Cadet Organisation (ACO) - more specifically, the Essex Wing of the Air Training Corps (ATC).

414 Squadron is just one of 27 units across the county of Essex, and just a small proportion of the 1000 cadets county-wide.

As well as the activities mentioned elsewhere on this site, we provide young people between the ages of 13 and 20 with the opportunity to experience, first-hand, what it's like to be part of a disciplined, uniformed youth organisation. Many of our cadets have gone on to enjoy successful careers in all three of HM Armed Forces; not just the Royal Air Force.

The ATC has something to offer everyone; whether it's gliding solo (before passing your driving test), hiking in Iceland or participating in local events such as Remembrance Day parades. The uniform is provided by our parent service and all we ask in return (in addition to a small subscription fee) are senses of humour, adventure and commitment.
