Ok, so it’s not quite May 1st yet but hey – I’m early for a change.

Thanks to Nick for the heads-up on the great Subtle theme. I’m still trying to work out how to embed my flickr badge in the sidebar but none of the widgets seem to work for me at the moment…

…if anyone spots one that might, please let me know!

OK, not *mine* in a strict sense but I did make it up, based on these instructions gleaned from Adrian and Clive:

Go to the Wikipedia random article generator and note the title of the randomly selected article. This is your band name.
Similarly, go to this random quotation page and note the last four words of the last quotation. This is your album title.
Now to Flickr’s interesting photos feature . Download (or screengrab if necessary) the third picture. This is your album cover picture.
Now put the whole lot together in the photo/graphics application of your choice. Populate your imaginary music business with exciting acts!

So, without further ado, I give you my debut album:

No doubt more will appear, as and when I feel like making them!

IE’s (lack of) PNG support

Grrr… Sometimes, I really hate Internet Explorer.

All I want to do is use a .png image as the background to a link, then change it on hover. I’ve searched high and low for a fix but nothing seems to cater for background images delivered by CSS.

I’ve been reduced to delivering GIFs to IE, which don’t look nearly as nice.

Any ideas?

Messing about with Flickr and the GIMP

No, it’s not some tacky “Pulp Fiction” rip-off, just an open-source Ph*t*sh*p close equivalent.

I’ve been toying with Flickr badges for a short while and was convinced I could make them look better…

Here’s my first attempt – what d’you think?

I’ve been playing with Dreamweaver for a while now but don’t really make use of the “design” view (hey – get me; Mr. Coder-man!). That said, I only really use DW as a full-featured text editor-cum-FTP-client.

So I got thinking. I should give Design view a go. Rather than addle my brain any further I though I’d draw some inspiration from some exisiting template and came across gordonmac.com.

Apparently, this guy is a hobbyist designer. I say he should be professional. A real eye for design. Mr MacKay, I salute you!
