It's kind of been forced on me, I suppose... My hosting for this site runs out in a few weeks, so I'll definitely be moving on.
Keep your eyes peeled for a new look site, powered by Wordpress, very soon.

The Times, they are a-changin'...
There have been a couple of big changes this week...
- I've started a new job. After 5 years, I left my last job with an international, London-based law firm to move into IT contracting - I can see the world a bit; broaden my horizons. So, for the next 2 weeks I'm in Huntingdon, learning a new system before I'm released on the unsuspecting public...
- I'm going to be a dad! Our first scan was yesterday (21/6/05) - and everything's fine. Due date: 3rd January 2006, but chances are it'll be anytime between Christmas and New Year
I couldn't be any happier :-D

Orange
There's something about "orange" that I like... in fact, there are several "orange" things that are good:
1. Orange, the mobile phone network who have excellent reception, even at my desk (lower ground aka one above basement). Although that may be due to my shiny new Motorola V3 :-)
2. Gulf Colours GT40s. Combined with a pale blue, it looks fab - something that was lurking in my subconscious when I created
3. A shiny new look for this site. Whether I proceed with this look or not remains to be seen.
4. Oranges the fruit are full of Vitamin C-type goodness.
5. Of course, Oranges are not the only fruit... (ok, it's a tenuous link but what the hell)

A tweak here, a tweak there...
Clive got me thinking yesterday, about the problems I've been having with spam comments.
A quick Google revealed that a few people on the Greymatter forums (fora?) have been having the same trouble, and have done something about it.
So, three uploaded and CHMODed files later, I'm hoping to be able to kick the spam merchants (or bastards, as I prefer to call them) into touch.
We shall see...

Grrr...
I hate spam.
And I hate spammers all the more.
And spammers that use zombie machines to fill my blog comments with crap are right at the bottom of my Christmas card list.
I know I can ban certain IP addresses (and I do) but I'm seriously considering a "register to post comments" option for the new site... which is coming along nicely, thanks for asking.
Would anyone have any objection?

The prodigal returns
And just like that, it was all over...
Fifteen months of planning, one nerve-wracking day of celebration, two weeks in Egypt and I'm back in the country as a married man.
And I couldn't be happier :-)
A big-up to all our friends that helped us celebrate; either in person or by proxy - we *will* be sending our "thank you" cards out very soon.
Now I'm supposed to have some more free time, I'll be giving this site a much needed overhaul so things may go astray for a while...
...but it will be back; bigger and better than before, no doubt resplendent with technicoloury goodness in the form of wedding photos.
Which reminds me - if anyone else has some from the day, we'd really appreciate copies!

I need a break...
I'm shattered.
Jo had the right idea at work the other day: "You're lucky I'm here - I haven't got the time to work!"
The 'Big Day'(tm) is almost here; less than 10 days in fact. I've got less than a week left at work, which is a bonus.
Outfits have been collected, tried on and replacements ordered. Everything else has either been ordered, booked, collected or paid for. Orders of service are still in component form; waiting for us to find the time to assemble them.
Even though we've been planning this for 15 months, I know it'll go to the wire... things like the flowers, cake, DJ and band won't be seen until the day before at best.
And I've still got to write my speech (apologies in advance if it's crap).
I need sleep, and lots of it. (yawn)

Eek!
I've just realised...
In just over 7 weeks' time, I'll be waiting at the altar, hoping that Jo will shortly be joining me to say our vows.
It's a sobering, but extremely comforting thought. I can't wait.
Maybe the thought of a decent holiday has got something to do with it ;-)
Oh - please forgive me if the site disappears for a short while: I'm moving hosts shortly so that I can play with the wonders of PHP and MySQL...
